Jaap Brüsewitz MA

Born and raised in Utrecht in a Mennonite family. As a pastor’s kid started to study theology at Amsterdam University in 1971. Studied at the Mennonite Seminary as well. Finished my studies with a thesis on the Dutch Mennonite Aid to their Swiss Brethren in 18th century. Served as a pastor from 1978 in Enkhuizen, Hoofddorp, Leiden, Koog aan de Zaan, and Zaandam, Wormerveer, Krommenie and Wormer. Retired in 2020. Memmber and secretary of the board of the Dutch Mennonite Conference. As a teacher I was involved in a course for congregation members as historian.

At the moment I have begun again to work on my research on the schism between Lamist and Zonist Mennonites in the late 17th century. In this research I am focusing on the Dutch Mennonite community of faith, that choose to stay and not has chosen for migration.

Therefor I am very happy to be involved in this BCC project. I hope that this wil be a new challenge for old and new believers churches and groups. It will be a great chance to learn from each other how to live your faith in a secular world.
